Why Northern Colorado exteriors fail early
Between 300+ days of high-altitude UV, hail season, and 60-degree overnight swings, exterior paint here takes a beating that coastal paint never sees. A cheap repaint blisters and chalks in 3–4 years. A properly-prepped repaint with the right coating lasts 10–12.
Our exterior process
- 1Soft-wash the entire exterior to remove chalking, mildew, and dust
- 2Hand-scrape and sand any failing paint back to a sound edge
- 3Repair or replace rotted trim, siding, and fascia
- 4Full caulk of joints, trim gaps, and window perimeters
- 5Spot-prime bare wood and stain-blocking primer on tannin-heavy species
- 6Two full coats of Sherwin-Williams Emerald or Duration exterior
- 7Final walk with you — every touch-up handled before we roll off

When to repaint in Fort Collins
The Northern Colorado exterior painting window is roughly mid-May through early October. We need overnight lows above 40°F for at least 48 hours after application for the finish to cure properly. We start filling the following season’s calendar in February — book early to lock preferred dates.
